Shark Week

In the American Reddit Forum on Hashimoto and Keto, I read the term “Shark Week” for the first time, but I actually find it quite appropriate.

Shark Week is the term for female Keto followers (that sounds like a cult…) who have their period. It’s that easy to explain! I can’t say why exactly, but I think it has to do with the fact that you like to eat more before your period and more during your period.

I felt the same way when I was younger and then I stopped eating more and more. Of course, until about a year ago, when my period started to stop, I still had cravings (especially for pizza!), but never as bad as in my 20s!

Yesterday was the first time I had them again after I started Keto, so pretty much exactly 35 days after that. If you consider that a woman goes through her cycle in 28 days, I’m a bit late, but better than the 7 months before, namely completely without.
I’m the kind of person who buys a pregnancy test even though she hasn’t had sex, but that’s more to do with a messed-up GP I had when I was 12 years old who thought I was pregnant even though I was about to have my first period. And since I was still religious at that time, I thought the next baby Jesus would be on the way, yay!

All right, but joking aside.

I don’t like my period. If I could do without it, I would, but I know it’s not good for me and I know that menopause is not fun and I’m not looking forward to it, even if I still have a little time left.

Yes, and now I’m sitting here, actually just tired, because I’m still trying to get over my iron deficiency (although my period doesn’t help me either!) and I have a slight backache.
However, I hope that this is due to my period and not to my reintroduction of dairy products. It would be a real pity, as I already love my cheese.

I’ll just wait and see how it is next week and then I’ll probably start to balance things out again, i.e. the ones with the highest lactose content. I have already given up milk completely, among other things because of the lactose. Not necessarily because I think I’m intolerant of it, but because the sugar content in milk is just too high and I don’t want to be thrown out of ketose.

The site is definitely making progress, albeit slowly, but at least I have already written three complete articles!
I definitely want to finish with Hashimoto first, or at least as far as I can before I start with Keto.

I also hope that I can get the Sony a6400 cheap on Friday, then I could warm up by creating videos for Youtube…
